After the loss of her son, Iris confronts a gloom that cannot be explained in her, fills her to the brim, and takes the shape of tears. This character played by Kelsey Asbill embarks on a journey that transforms everything around her. However, her fears are inflicted by severe known evil, a Cannibal who is closer to a living monster, he is the so-called witch doctor who uses mixed blood as an anesthetic. The witch does that with the lady: she attacks her but in a different manner as the one that is seen in the current scenario which situations are the same. How does Iris escape the cabin?

Being a gifted actor, Richard has come to believe in the truth of the story he is telling, in the character that he has created, and in the actions before him. Only as he tries to act does Iris get him to break the character. “In his twisted way, he does respect her and he does like her,” Wittrock says. “It’s not going to stop him from murdering, because that’s what he is, but I think she touches some very vulnerable nerve in him, maybe the last one that he has left.”
And so, with his words, Richard reveals the skeleton in his histrionics closet. Well, the incident did not make him go bonkers, as he puts it – it unmasked him. How did he leave her this time? The last statement he made was one of? “Thank you.” Also, by watching her demise, Richard himself marked his transformation into a murderer.
Netto and Schindler, the directors, urge that the viewers not take all that Richard said as gospel. “It’s actually like both of them are engaging in a counseling session and it’s a bit screwed up,” Schindler states. “I cannot tell you that he is telling, if his muscles stretch too much there are frozen parts. In his message of course a version of the truth exists.”
As for Wittrock, he portrayed the scene as if every word he was saying was the truth. “He’s attempting to go through that initial love that he had in his life and yet he lost, and that he is exploring the boundaries of his personality,” Wittrock continues. “How come there was so much comfort in that one, so much battleground? I think him doing this is fine.”
Why does Iris thank Richard at the end of Don’t Move?
The dusk arrived unannounced and Richard was aware of how little time was left before his family reached. So, he decided to dismiss the idea of going to the cottage and simply went to the lake with Iris, lifting her into the boat and readying her for the death that awaited. All the while, Iris regained her mobility, and she managed to knife Richard in the face and shoot him with his gun on the boat. He toppled over the side, leaving Iris captain of the sinking ship to wade ashore, while their boat full of holes went under.
Upon reaching the shore, she comes to know that she had been mistaken. Richard is struggling out of the lake, severely wounded. She is able to leave him with some comfort, as well as one saying similar to the one he once leveled at her, “Thank you.”
“There is a moment, I believe, where Iris is not fighting to survive, but choosing to survive, and that is in the last minutes of this movie,” elaborates Asbille. “That was the aspect that was aimed to be conveyed, what that level of fear that makes one frozen eternal that moments of closing.” When she expresses gratitude to Richard, she does so just as a wave of gratitude is directed towards someone who helped them through their ugly phase, even if that person violently imposed the change. It turned out she would no longer be consumed by fear – both psychological and physical.
This is why “thank you” from Iris has more in it than what the words mean particularly. “Kelsey put her heart into the film and made that journey of someone hopeless, someone good hope,” Raimi says. “It is such a beautiful story that by the end of this final scene it’s impossible to not be impressed. She has a soul and – listen up – she knows how to show the crowd there’s a piece of it.”
