How does Iris escape the cabin?

In his message of course a version of the truth exists.”

As for Wittrock, he portrayed the scene as if every word he was saying was the truth. “He’s attempting to go through that initial love that he had in his life and yet he lost, and that he is exploring the boundaries of his personality,” Wittrock continues. “How come there was so much comfort in that one, so much battleground? I think him doing this is fine.”

Why does Iris thank Richard at the end of Don’t Move?

The dusk arrived unannounced and Richard was aware of how little time was left before his family reached. So, he decided to dismiss the idea of going to the cottage and simply went to the lake with Iris, lifting her into the boat and readying her for the death that awaited. All the while, Iris regained her mobility, and she managed to knife Richard in the face and shoot him with his gun on the boat. He toppled over the side, leaving Iris captain of the sinking ship to wade ashore, while their boat full of holes went under.

Upon reaching the shore, she comes to know that she had been mistaken. Richard is struggling out of the lake, severely wounded. She is able to leave him with some comfort, as well as one saying similar to the one he once leveled at her, “Thank you.”

“There is a moment, I believe, where Iris is not fighting to survive, but choosing to survive, and that is in the last minutes of this movie,” elaborates Asbille. “That was the aspect that was aimed to be conveyed, what that level of fear that makes one frozen eternal that moments of closing.” When she expresses gratitude to Richard, she does so just as a wave of gratitude is directed towards someone who helped them through their ugly phase, even if that person violently imposed the change. This is why “thank you” from Iris has more in it than what the words mean particularly. “Kelsey put her heart into the film and made that journey of someone hopeless, someone good hope,” Raimi says. “It is such a beautiful story that by the end of this final scene it’s impossible to not be impressed. She has a soul and – listen up – she knows how to show the crowd there’s a piece of it.”
